Measurement Tools
180 Degree Benchmarking Tool
For us, one of the most important parts of any coaching assignment or project is the ability to be able to measure its effectiveness and highlight areas for ongoing development/improvement. Our 180 feedback benchmarking tool produces quantitative and qualitative evidence to evaluate a coach's performance after a coaching assignment or can be used to evaluate their progress in meeting the standards required for one of our qualifications. (We also use a bespoke version of the tool to measure the effectiveness of our corporate programmes).
The tool uses an online questionnaire to collect data from the 'coachee' or 'learners' on their perception of the coach's process and personal skills and attributes as well as the benefits they and their organisations have gained from working with them.
The responses are consolidated into a single score and given to the candidate with a comparison of the average scores from the many hundreds of other responses collected to date. This comprehensive national average, unique to The OCM, provides a simple but effective benchmark for a developmental discussion with the coach's supervisor.

Self-assessments
Our self-assessments are designed to enable individuals to assess their coach-mentoring skills and to compare themselves against the professional standards of the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC). These standards are based on a worldwide competency research programme by the EMCC and the QCA UK national occupational standards. We've also integrated both with the outcomes from extensive consultation with most other bodies having an interest in coaching and mentoring.
They represent current best practice across the 'profession' and form the basis on which EMCC Quality Awards and Qualifications for coach-mentoring are now being given. We use these self-assessments on all our qualification and corporate programmes as they are a fantastic way to establish initial strengths and weaknesses to assist with ongoing development and enable regular reviews of progress.
