What is coaching and mentoring for The OCM?
Unlike many coaching and mentoring organisations, we advocate no single theoretical coaching model but encourage the serious development of a wide range of approaches to suit the variety of situations and contexts in which coaching and mentoring takes place. This approach is 'holistic' and has been labelled as 'Situational Coach-Mentoring'. We believe this is a more powerful and empowering approach to coaching and mentoring and our many clients - from a wide range of professions and organisations and from a range of jobs from Chief Executives to Line Managers - agree.
We also believe that because coaching and mentoring is essentially a practical skill, our approach should be practice-orientated but with a strong theoretical underpinning. Our programmes are also a truly blended learning experience with access to streamed audio and video content, online measurement tools and opportunities to get involved in new social learning activities. Our focus is on the highly practical and experiential 'self-managed learning by doing'. But the experience is flexible and, whilst you are guided through a structured programme, you are able to undertake both study and practice at a time and pace that suits your own personal circumstances.
All our programmes are quality controlled by independent accrediting bodies to ensure that they meet and exceed the most up-to-date professional, occupational and academic standards within the coaching profession and upon which our reputation depends.
