The Breadth of the programme exceeded my expectations. I found the approach of offering exploration of many differing theories, ideas and approaches and then allowing me to make up my own mind to find who I was as a coach very empowering, (as opposed to some who say, this is our way, do it like this). I feel I have become not only more self aware, and also more comfortable with the awareness I have of who I am if this makes sense. I used to worry that I would not be able to make an impact, that perhaps I was better suited to environments where direct intervention was necessary, however I have found immense reward in the value you can bring an individual through the coaching process. The programmer's been brilliant. I try to do my coaching on a Friday because I get such a buzz leaving for the weekend afterwards! Also the qualification activities have been incredibly rewarding, in many different ways. As I am nearing the end of the course and the coursework, I have found myself reflecting more and more about my learning and development since I started this course. I realise I pay a lot more attention now to demonstrating effective listening skills and this is now more natural to me, but I make an effort to practice in the workplace whenever I can. I have also realised that I am actively challenging myself in my learning style and try not to always behave in my strongest preference/style, but force myself on occasion to go outside my comfort zone and practice the least preferred styles. It's not easy, but it has greatly improved my self-awareness.
